Homemade chip dip
Everyone needs a good chip dip recipe. An easy, tasty sour cream dip is so versatile for just about any occasion. A good homemade dip will elevate any snack tray you place it on!
Whether that is summertime by the pool, a baby shower appetizer, holiday chip dip, or a great side for a party. You just can’t go wrong with serving a recipe like chip and dip!
I have made this dip many times for holiday parties or birthdays for my kids and it’s always a hit! It uses basic pantry spices and a container of sour cream making it accessible to make anytime of year.

Ingredients needed
You can find the full recipe with instructions at the bottom of this post, but here is a quick overview of the ingredients you will need to make it.
- Sour Cream
- Garlic Powder
- Minced Onion
- Dried Dill
- Freeze Dried Chives
- Dried Parsley Flakes
- Salt

How to make Chip Dip
Step 1: Add the sour cream, garlic powder, minced onion, dill, chives, parsley flakes, and salt to a small mixing bowl.
Step 2: Stir the dip well to combine all the spices. Place the dip back into the sour cream container, and cover it with the lid. Chill in the fridge until ready to serve.

Kitchen tips
This recipe tastes better the longer you let the spices marinate! For best flavors, chill it for at least 2-3 hours before serving, or overnight.
This dip is so flavorful, and I love it because it uses all spices that can be found in the spice aisle. Garlic powder, minced onion, dill, chives, and parsley give this potato chip dip so much flavor!

Serving It
This chip dip tastes great with so many dippers! Here are some ideas for you to serve with it.
- Ruffle chips: these are our favorite as they are sturdy and hold up well to a good dip!
- Baked chips or crackers
- Mini pretzels
- Cucumbers
- Baby carrots
- Broccoli
- Sliced bell pepper
- Cherry tomatoes
How long can a sour cream dip sit out?
It is recommended that sour cream based dips are not left outside of the fridge past two hours. Just be sure to cover it back up and stick it in the fridge before that amount of time.
This recipe is perfect for just about anything. Serve it up and watch it disappear.

How To Store Leftovers
This chip dip is good for 5-7 days in the refrigerator, if it lasts that long! I find it disappears very quickly in my house. It’s great for a late night snack once the kids are in bed!
