The best black bean burger recipe made with simple ingredients. An easy meatless burger that is perfect for a quick weeknight dinner!
This black bean burger recipe is an answer to all of your bland veggie burger problems.
If you’ve ever had a less than delicious veggie burger, you know how difficult it can be to find recipes that are not only meatless, but actually taste good.
These black bean burgers are so tasty, and the best part is that they are made with easy pantry ingredients.
You don’t need any fancy ingredients or cooking methods to make these burgers taste delicious!
Whether you are a vegetarian or just looking to incorporate more meatless meals into your life, these burgers are a great place to start!

Ingredients in a black bean burger
- black beans
- onion
- garlic
- egg
- panko style bread crumbs
- oat flour
- powdered parmesan
- spices
How to make black bean burgers
Step 1: Add the drained black beans, garlic cloves, and chopped onion to a food processor.
Process until the garlic and onion are combined, and the mixture looks like refried beans.
You want to make sure that there are no big chunks of onion or garlic remaining.
Step 2: Use a rubber spatula to remove the bean mixture from the food processor and into a large mixing bowl.
To the mixing bowl, add your remaining ingredients:
1 egg, panko style bread crumbs, oat flour, powdered parmesan, cumin, salt, pepper, paprika, and chili powder.
If you do not have oat flour, simply place regular rolled oats into your food processor or high speed blender and grind them up into flour.

What holds black bean burgers together?
A combination of oat flour (ground up rolled oats) and bread crumbs are perfect for holding the burgers together.
When paired with our binder (the egg), these bean burgers form a great shape and don’t fall apart!
Step 3: Mix the ingredients together until combined.
Use your hands to shape the batter into 6 black bean burgers, then place onto parchment paper or a plate so that they are ready to cook.
For a thicker burger, you can make 5 burgers instead of 6.
Step 4: Heat a skillet with olive oil, then place your black bean burgers in it.
Cook on each side for 5 – 8 minutes, until browned and crispy on both sides.
Use a spatula to flatten the burgers into the pan for optimal crisp.
These burgers are the perfect texture, and don’t fall apart, which is a big problem with a lot of veggie burgers.
These are seriously the best black bean burgers I have ever had!
I have also eaten them on a salad for protein, with or without a bun they are delicious.
